The new year is upon us, and as tempting as it is to activate “turbo mode” with work projects, we want to take a moment here instead to press “pause”. There is something important about standing still for a moment and acknowledging all that has happened in the past year: to find our narrative and continue our story, to celebrate our victories and let go of our shortcomings.
If we had to choose one word to describe 2018 it would be capital-g “Growth.” Beyond just market share statistics, we grew into a deeper knowing of who we are as a small business. More importantly, our small team of 3 grew to 4; we’ve had a blast together as we continue to support one another and collaborate to produce the highest quality photo and video packages to our clients. Growth never comes without hard work and growing pains (thankfully very small!), but we are so proud to be here now and see how far we’ve come.
That said, we do love a good statistic, and we are grateful for the very positive stats that have emerged from 2018. We were on site at properties 873 times this year—a 24% increase when compared to the 2017 calendar year. We were also intentionally more present on social media, and that paid off: our Facebook following grew by 80%! These statistics tell only part of a much larger story of growth, but they sure do shed some light on the results reaped by our hard work over the past year.
We also learned that you folks love giveaways—which is great news, because we love hosting them! This year we gave away 2 tickets to the Toronto Blue Jays, 4 tickets to Improbable Escapes, 1 ticket for the Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery, and 2 “Test Your Drive” monthly passes to Mercury Strength & Conditioning. We love partnering with other businesses in Kingston (...and the Blue Jays 😉) and we look forward to even more partnerships in 2019.
Two significant highlights stand out from 2018: first, we were honoured to produce an iGuide package for the Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery—an amazing cause and a very exciting opportunity for us. Secondly, in November our founder, Jordan, was honoured with the “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” award by the Kingston Chamber of Commerce.
We could not have done this without the support from our AMAZING clients and the Kingston business community. Thank you. Thank you for your support, whether by booking an iGuide for your upcoming listing, or recommending us to your colleagues and friends, or by simply leaving a kind note in our inbox. We hope that we can serve you even better this year. We hope we can consistently impress you with our work as we continue to refine and diversify. And we hope to get to know even more of you—because at the end of the day, building relationships is what it’s all about. We can’t wait to sit down in January 2020 and look back on all we are about to accomplish this year, with you alongside us.
